High Tide

The tides have been very high the last couple of days, and driftwood pickings have been good. This is Tuesday's haul, drying in the sun yesterday.

Lunchtime yesterday the tide was so high there was no beach at all to walk on. We sat on top of the dunes, watching the waves. No wind, just big waves. You could feel the vibration of each wave crashing against the dune.

Last night I gave in and had a bath. The cold water is not yet plumbed and the hot is absolutely scalding, so we had to carry through basins of cold water, and put down a couple of planks to stand on in front of the bath. It was out of this world nontheless!

What a treat to pick up drift wood -- we have to have a pretty good storm come through our area before we see those treasures any more.

Lovely pics. We visited the highlands a few years ago and thought the area absolutely beautiful. Every time we turned a twist in the road the view changed and surprised us again and again.

What a nice bit of writing - you just took me on a mini-vacation, TY!

Elizabeth, I am new to your blog. This is such beautiful scenery. You painted such a great picture - I could imagine myself there. Do you know what you are going to do with the driftwood?

Your shore looks so wild and unspoiled. Is it starting to warm up there?

The coast in winter has its own beauty doesn't it? Mostly tones of grey but rather restful and tranquil - until a storm blows up! Then the sea is wild and powerful and makes you realise how puny and insignificant we are by comparison. Is your driftwood for flower arranging or just for the pleasure of looking at it?

Welcome to the Q4P ring. It is always nice to meet new bloggers. Lovely ocean pictures. Many years ago my husband and I spent a weekend on Skye - we just put some photo's on the computer - a lovely picture of Portree is now his wallpaper. Beautiful country.
