Scrappy Squares

I'm piecing by hand these days. It's more relaxing, after a day spent gardening.

It's easier, too, as the whole house is now in chaos - a new central heating system is being installed and carpets are up everywhere and floors being ripped up. All quite stressful and messy so I'm trying to keep out of the house if I can. There is snow again today (yesterday was our first proper snow this year!) and I'm told everything in the snug has been connected, so I returned the books to their shelves and so am holed up in there now, with some good films and an electric heater!

These squares are 6 1/2". A few more to go!

Those stars are great! I hope that you are doing well...tell me what kind of gardening do you like to do? I hope to put some soft fruit, herbs and veggies mixed in with the flowers in our new much smaller garden.

I always find handwork so peaceful - a great stress reliever. Your stars look great. Soon the chaos in the house will be done, but you will not want to return indoors with all the fun to be had in the garden.

Your stars are lovely--I especially like the scrappy background. These look like a good way to shut out the chaos around you.

Hand piecing is relaxing and much more portable. Love the stars!

Gardening and handsewing sound like the best way to get through the days of chaos. Not great gardening weathe right now though is it? The wind here is bitter. I like your stars, if it stays cold and snowy you should make good progress with them:):)

The blocks look wonderful. That is going to be a beautiful quilt.

Very pretty! Love those stars. And I have chickens and lots of eggs but no time right now to collect them so the mamma sits on them. We'll see if that gets her anywhere.

Hand piecing is relaxing, but I'm not very good at it so I almost always avoid it. I like the stars very much. With the darker fabrics and different lighter fabrics for the stars make the stars pop out so well.

Elizabeth, these are beautiful stars. I like how you made each one scrappy.
I like handwork too, but since I want to have finished quilts, I tend to avoid them. I will probably be handquilting something I've made one of these days.
